9 Films That Would Benefit From Being Remade

2. Masters Of The Universe

Mounted on a budget so low that most of the action takes place in modern-day California, Masters Of The Universe boasts cheap and cheerful sets, moth-eaten costumes and a plot recycled (by the same writer) from Supergirl (1984), but that’s not the extent of the film’s sins. Put Dolph Lundgren in a leather codpiece, place him in a contemporary setting and – presto! – the film enters the realm of high camp.

A remake has been mooted for over a decade, with the most recent incarnation set to be directed by McG (Terminator Salvation) from a script by Christopher Yost (Thor: Ragnarok). Then again, previous versions were linked to Joe Cornish (Attack The Block), Jon M Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) and Rian Johnson (Looper), so don’t hold your breath.

Perhaps with a decent lead – how does Jason Momoa sound? – and a proper budget, the film could erase the memory of watching He-Man driving around California in a pink car. Given Hollywood’s constant need for product, it’s only a matter of time before a remake reaches multiplexes.
