9 Lame Opening Scenes In Otherwise Great Movies

2. Back To The Future 2

There's this thing movies do sometimes. After the adventure ends and the heroes are triumphant, the creators don't want to leave the characters resting on their laurels, but instead they are thrust suddenly into a new adventure!

Which is how Back to the Future ends. And what an ending it is. Unfortunately, the creators had to follow up on it with the sequel and they had absolutely no idea what to do with it.

For one, the creators openly admitted they weren't thinking of making a sequel, and if they had, they would not have involved Marty's girlfriend Jennifer. You can see the lack of interest in this first sequence crystal clear. Early in, Jennifer is sprayed with a science potion to knock her out, the "problem with your kids" is resolved in a couple of minutes (and isn't actually a big deal to begin with), and we just get a repeat of some of the early scenes of Back to the Future.

Eventually the movie actually starts, but before that happens we need to see an agonizingly slow, poorly thought-out future sequence that makes BttF 2 one of the least regarded film in the entire series.
