9. Green Lantern Corps - Captain America: The Winter Soldier
The Basic Premise: A massive security organization is overrun by traitors from the inside. Our hero, who works for said organization, must go rogue with a few trusted allies in order to reveal this plot to the masses and thwart those in power. How DC Could Make It Better: One of The Winter Soldiers few problems came about because it was framed as a conspiracy thriller. After years of planning, are the villains really likely to risk exposing themselves a day before because of a few massive shootouts? The issue is that conspiracy movies dont lend themselves well to giant action set-pieces, but as a superhero movie, Captain America had to have them. Should Green Lantern Corps use a similar conspiracy-based approach, the biggest challenge will be toning down the mystery slightly and playing up the science-fiction atmosphere surrounding it. That way, when the epic space finale comes, it seems right in line with the rest of the movie. Using a mystery-based plot could also be a great way to tackle Green Lantern in a new manner (and help differentiate it from the first movie). But this is a fantastical world the characters inhabit, so DC shouldnt try to make the story too realistic, and instead relish in the weirdness of the world theyre portraying.
