With a cast as big and accomplished as that of the Avengers, it was inevitable that someone would get the short shrift and be left playing a thankless role in the superhero team up blockbuster. For Bourne actor/ former indie darling Jeremy Renner, however, the comparative uselessness of his under- utilized Hawkeye left him attempting to convince the filmmakers to kill him off and put him out of his misery.

Renner reports that he would feign a heart attack during shooting to remind the creators that offing him was always an available option, but luckily the producers instead listened and gave Hawkeye a little more story for later instalments.
