One of the very first insane stunts to be performed on camera - if not, the first - silent movie star Harold Lloyd showed off a unique feat of derring-do at the time. Lloyd climbs out onto a clock affixed to the side of a fake wall positioned atop a building in L.A., finding himself in more and more precarious a predicament as the celluloid rolls. Although it might not have been as high up as initially perceived, he still uses his own raw strength to dangle off one of the hands of the clock, and a fall would have been seriously dangerous. The fact that he did it all sans a thumb and a forefinger, thanks to a live bomb prop that went off in his hand some years earlier, makes it all the more impressive. Lloyd can also be credited with setting a precedent for actors who want to do as much of their own stunts as possible, even being credited as one of Jackie Chan's influences at the start of his career.
