From Elvis and David Bowie to Ozzy Osbourne and James Hetfield, it seems that many of rock’s iconic frontmen get offered an opportunity to cross into another form of art and grace the silver screen.
In many cases, musicians will often play themselves in film or TV, such as Cannibal Corpse playing a show in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Billy Idol cameoing in The Wedding Singer. Some will play character roles like Myles Kennedy's brief inclusion as Thor in Rock Star.
Others will pop up in the most random places, like All That Remains guitarist Oli Hebert in the unreleased Lonesome Thoughts.
No matter how obscure, it’s always a win when our favorite rockers get a few minutes of unexpected screen time. While many fans may know that Ozzy Osbourne was in Little Nicky and that Keith Richards was in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, there are dozens of other front men who have been featured in movies that slipped well below the radar of even the most discerning movie buffs, from surprising cameos by Slipknot to leading roles for some of the biggest names in the genre.

Sometimes when a rocker pops up in a film, it makes total sense. When Jonathan Davis appeared as a scalper in Queen of the Damned, it wasn't difficult to see why: he helped produce the Queen of the Damned: Music from the Motion Picture album and contributed six songs to it.
His appearance as Ricky in Seeing Other People? Now that was random.
The 2004 comedy starred Jay Mohr and Julianne Nicholson as a couple who agree to have one last fling as individuals before their upcoming wedding. The film features a handful of notable names like Bryan Cranston, Andy Richter, Lauren Graham, and Alex Borstein.
