You can't have a horror movie without some...HORROR.

Us has no doubt taken the North American box office and audiences by storm this past week. Countless twists, questions, and allegories had people talking about the film at the watercooler immediately after release and probably a fair while to come.

And crucially, according to the director, it's important to remember this provocative, engaging film IS a horror.

Us’ first two thirds are nothing but horror. It's not till its last act that we dive deeper into the unknown of it all. The mystery and eventual answers (or lack thereof) has overshadowed just how truly masterful Peele is at doing what’s key for every horror film: scaring the s**t out of us.

But which moments left the biggest mark...?

9. Adelaide Walks Through The Tunnels

Near the end of the film Red kidnaps Adelaide’s son, Jason, and takes him down to the underground tunnels where the tethered have been living.

Adelaide goes to look for her son (as any mother would) in an anxious frenzy. Wielding a fire iron, she looks behind every corner as if something were about to attack her, because something very well may. There’s no jump scares or creepiness to shock, just the idea of knowing every step could be your last is scary enough.
