Bad guys in cinema are supposed to be fearless, steadfast in their deluded beliefs that their actions are right and "for the greater good". Shooting someone shouldn't be a problem for such a villainous character as Hans Gruber then, right? Wrong. Alan Rickman, who portrayed Gruber, had an uncontrollable habit of flinching and wincing whenever he fired a gun in Die Hard, to the point that Director John McTiernan had to "smash cut" away from his face whenever he fired a gun. If you look at Rickman's face after he has just shot Takagi, you can see him wincing.
