A Quiet Place Part II Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs
2. The Sharp Pacing & Snappy Editing
At just 97 minutes in length, this is a film that moves fast and doesn't let up for its entirety. While this does mean that the film occasionally feels a little too hurried for its own good, it mostly means that the film retains a lean form and gets to the point with maximum efficiency.
Aided by Ryan Coogler's regular editor Michael P. Shawver, Krasinski cleaves almost all excess fat away to ensure that his sequel is a snappy ride from start to finish.
Though it's a reasonable complaint that A Quiet Place Part II doesn't really expand the series' scale much despite its far larger budget, the flip-side is that it also doesn't saddle itself with the baggage that so many ambitious, expansive sequels also do. It's swings and roundabouts.
The ending may feel slightly abrupt when it speedily arrives, but that's only because Krasinski always keeps things moving from one point to the next throughout, never sticking in one spot for too long or making the audience notice the passage of time.
