4. It's A Surprisingly Unadventurous Sequel
Despite being given a budget more than three-times the original's $17 million, it's a little disappointing just how much A Quiet Place Part II is simply a "more of the same" sequel.
Yes, the scale is given a modest expansion and it's a more technically proficient film overall, but it refuses to do what truly great sequels do, and that's flip the script or change the game in a way that's both surprising and serves the characters.
This is basically another 90 minutes of the Abbotts being put through the wringer as they try to silently fend off an impossibly powerful enemy, complete with the requisite questionable character decisions.
To that end it feels more like an unassuming addendum to the original than an outright sequel.
Not every sequel needs to be bigger, but given the resources afforded to Krasinski, it's surprising how inessential and low-key this one feels despite its many strengths.
