Ten years ago this Christmas, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet starred in the highest grossing movie of all time. Spending a whole 15 weeks at the top of the box office, Titanic made $1.8 billion, won 11 Oscars and created a star out of the two young thespians. Turn back the clock a decade, and nearly everyone loved it. These days, at best, it's looked upon as being an "ok" film.... which I think is ridiculous. It holds a 7.0 rating on IMDB for god's sake..... that's the same rating as Saw II!! Oh yes, I still dearly love Titanic. It still hits me on an emotional level and I love spending an evening with the characters on the doomed ship. Variety are reporting that Di Caprio and Winslet are to star together in a movie for the first time since that ship hit that iceberg. The movie will be Revolutionary Road, to be helmed by Kate Winslet's husband Sam Mendes. Road will mark the first time the husband and wife have worked together. The movie will be based on an acclaimed 1961 novel written by Robert Yates. Variety gives us more.... Yates' heart-rending and bleak tome, celebrated for its storytelling style, follows a seemingly happy suburban couple with two children in the mid-1950s who find themselves caught between their true desires and the pressure to conform -- with explosive consequences. So much talent in this thing. DiCaprio has been one of my favourite actors since his turn in Catch Me If You Can four years ago, and since then he keeps toping his performances, culminating in The Departed where he was on another level of awesomness. Kate Winslet keeps growing as an actress too, and it's scary to think she is only 31. Let's not forget Mendes either, he has a very impressive resume of 2 KNOCKOUT movies and 1 VERY GOOD film from his 8 years directing. How can this movie be anything other than great? source - coming soon, variety
