2. It's A Rare Film That's Both Weird & Boring

Disney

The most disappointing thing about A Wrinkle in Time is that it's the rarest of movies that's both incredibly bizarre and exceptionally dull. This is a film where Reese Witherspoon transforms into a giant celery monster and a 100-foot tall Oprah shows up, and yet, it's still an utter slog to survive its fairly reasonable 109-minute run-time.

Normally films this stylistically ambitious can skate by on being strange and entrancing, but thanks to the aforementioned muddled script and DuVernay's slack direction, even in its most potentially beguiling moments, it still lacks the enchanting power that could've made it a cult classic.
