Alpha Flight: 10 Things You Need To Know About The MCU's Rumoured Super Team

The future of the MCU isn't all X-Men and Fantastic Four.

After Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home brought the decade long Infinity Saga to a close, the Marvel Cinematic Universe's future is looking toward crafting a brand new narrative. A story to further the shared universe without relying on Thanos, the Infinity Stones, or many of the heroes that dominated the first three phases.

With the likes of Captain America, Iron Man, and Black Widow gone, there will be a lot of new blood coming through in phase four and beyond. With Shang-Chi and the Eternals already confirmed, there will be no shortage of wonderful new characters introduced over the next few years.

Recent rumours have also suggested that, along with these heroes soon to make their MCU debuts, Kevin Feige will be bringing another super team to the table in the form of Alpha Flight. With no official release set for Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, and Avengers 5 yet to be announced at all, this team would be a welcome addition to the MCU roster.

Alpha Flight could be one of the most surprising additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but here are some basics that should help get anyone excited to see the team's big screen debut.

10. The Rights To The Team Came Over To Disney From Fox

After Disney and Fox were able to come to a deal in 2019 after years of what we thought was wishful thinking, Marvel Studios were finally able to bring a whole host of properties back underneath their own umbrella. Though they may be the biggest names now available to the MCU, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four aren't the only super teams Kevin Feige now has access to.

Throughout the X-Men movies and the Deadpool franchise, there have been a couple of blink-and-you'll-miss-it references to Alpha Flight, as little as the name showing on a computer screen in X2, and an ad for an airline of the same name on a taxi in Deadpool 2.

There were, at one stage, rumours of a potential spin off movie in which Alpha Flight would have come to life within the X-Men universe. Fortunately however, nothing was done before the MCU became involved. This means that Feige and co. now get a clean slate with which to introduce the newest team of MCU superheroes, rather than having to work to remove the bad taste from fans' mouths like they will with the Fantastic Four.
