12. Best Costume Design

WINNER: Phantom Thread

What a shock it'd be if anything other than Paul Thomas Anderson's drama about high-fashion won the Best Costume Design award. Though this category does allow less conventionally Oscar-baiting films to get nominated, it's almost always dominated by period fare, which is honestly a little boring.

We've shaken things up by including It, because Pennywise's costume was incredible; Star Wars: The Last Jedi, because the various uniforms and attires were memorable and iconic; and Thor: Ragnarok, because the colourful adornments helped the movie feel like something more than just another superhero film.
