Alfonso CuarĂ³n is damn-near certain to win the Best Cinematography Oscar for his fantastic work lensing Roma, and it'll be with damn fine reason. If you've got a 4K TV, you owe it to yourself to watch this movie on Netflix. Like, right now.

The Favourite and Cold War were also worthy nominees, while A Star Is Born simply worked without being particularly inspired visually and Never Look Away's cinematography is impressive but superficial, so they're both gone.

In place, we allowed Linus Sandgren's evocative, period-style lensing for First Man to make the cut, and Bruno Delbonnel's beautiful work on The Ballad of Buster Scruggs also sneaked into our final five (again, available on Netflix in eye-melting 4K).
