2. Danny Huston's Boring Villain

Danny Huston plays the film's primary antagonist, Wade Jennings, a colleague of Banning's who hatches a plan to initiate war between the U.S. and Russia.

Oh, and because Hobbs and Shaw can't be the only movie with a disembodied voice calling the shots from afar, he of course reports to a shadowy off-screen antagonist (the identity of whom we won't reveal).

And though Huston certainly has the requisite menace to play Butler's foil, he's ultimately rendered a bit of a bore due to the utterly unimaginative writing.

Reminiscent of how thoroughly Pedro Pascal's talents were squandered in a similar role in last summer's The Equalizer 2, Huston is basically just Bad Guy without much of a compelling personality or intriguing motive to speak of.
