20. Hereditary Prequel

Ari Aster's incredible feature debut Hereditary well and truly felt like a one-off, because while it left the audience with many questions to ponder, it also told a complete story.

Aster's films since haven't suggested he has much interest in franchising out any of his movies, though in a recent Q&A he unexpectedly revealed that he's actually written the script for a Hereditary prequel.

But don't get your hopes up, because in the very next breath Aster confirmed that he didn't have any active plans to develop it, stating that it "never feels like the right time."

And while it's certainly a tantalising tidbit, it's also probably for the best that Aster focuses on making his incredibly unique original movies rather than raking back over his most commercially successful film.

The Hereditary prequel might be a good one to keep in his back pocket, though, if A24 ever tires of bankrolling his polarising box office flops like Beau Is Afraid and Eddington.
