Another 20 Underrated Movies You Have To See

20. Brawl In Cell Block 99

Starting at the extreme end of the list, 2017's Brawl in Cell Block 99 is the perfect film for audiences who are after a bit of care-free, gratuitous violence. Under the surface, the film is also a great example of what happens when an actor goes against type and brings to life a genuinely compelling and interesting character.

Funny-man Vince Vaughn stars as Bradley Thomas, a former boxer who turns to drug dealing when he has no where else to turn. After he pushes his luck and ends up in prison after a gunfight with the police, Bradley finds himself in jail and literally fighting for his life. His enemies want him dead, and behind bars he has no choice but part-take in violent acts to keep himself alive.

What follows is an action-packed but very well-controlled prison drama in which Vaughn shines like never before. The violence is often grim, the injuries inflicted harsh, but the performance of Vaughn (and supporting actors Marc Blucas, Don Johnson and Jennifer Carpenter) and the direction of Craig Zahler (Bone Tomahawk - so no stranger to O.T.T violence), mean that 99 is a great viewing experience which has a lot to offer.

Just don't go in expecting any niceties...
