Ant-Man: 10 Directors Who Could Replace Edgar Wright

By Jack Pooley /

9. Jon Favreau

Jon Favreau is one of the major reasons why the MCU has been as successful as it has: he got everyone talking with the brilliant Iron Man, and though Iron Man 2 didn't quite live up to that level of awesomeness, it was still ably directed by Favreau for sure. He's a rare director who is extremely adept at effects-heavy tentpole movies and more intimate, small-scale comedies and dramas as well, as evidenced by movies like Elf and his recent success, Chef. How Likely Is It? Favreau has just the right temperament as a director to probably pull this one off, but sadly he's got a pretty packed slate moving forward: he's directing the pilot for political intrigue show Secret Cabinet, and is currently in pre-production on his live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book, due for release in late 2015. Short of production being stopped for some strange reason, Favreau just wouldn't have time to direct Ant-Man, even if he was just acting as a hired gun, working with all the pieces already in place. Never say never, and he would certainly be a savvy choice, but it looks like the timing is off. 2/10
