One of the movie's more disappointing aspects is the amount of screen-time devoted to the rather insipid family drama, as Lang is behind on his child support payments and desperately wants to make things right for his young daughter, Cassie. There's a fair level of antagonism between Lang and his ex-wife Maggie's (Judy Greer) new police officer husband Paxton (Bobby Cannavale), but of course, by the end of the movie you know exactly where it's going: they have a mutual respect for one another and manage to co-exist. It's a movie about a guy shrinking himself down to the size of an Ant: isn't that really just awesome enough? Does anyone really crave this generic family hokum?
