Kang the Conqueror is coming to the MCU, and nothing will ever be the same again...

Despite rumours that M.O.D.O.K. would be Ant-Man 3's big bad, it was revealed yesterday that Lovecraft County's Jonathan Majors has been cast as Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Studios threequel. What role he'll play is unclear, but it's believed that this Avengers baddie will be the movie's lead villain, and not just a supporting player.

Kang has fought The Avengers on countless occasions, and given his habit of travelling through time, Earth's Mightiest Heroes are never quite sure whether they've met the version they're facing before. Born in the 31st Century, he used technology created by Doctor Doom to travel back to ancient Egypt and become a God.

From there, "Rama-Tut" would go by a number of names - The Scarlet Centurion and Immortus among them - but it wasn't until he realised how much he enjoyed conquering and ruling timelines that he embraced his newfound role as "Kang the Conqueror." The one that's always eluded him, of course, is protected by The Avengers.

With a villain like this, it's clear some major changes are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it seems Ant-Man helping Iron Man discover time-travel will come back to bite him in a big way. However, there may be larger consequences for this shared world thanks to Kang's introduction...

10. Ant-Man's Punishment

When Scott Lang emerged from the Quantum Realm in Avengers: Endgame, he went to Earth's Mightiest Heroes with an idea: to travel through time and stop Thanos. With Tony Stark's help, they managed to achieve that, and the ramifications are bound to be felt for a long time to come.

Sure, Captain America put the Infinity Stones back where they belonged, but only after The Avengers had created a series of new, branching timelines as a result of their actions... even Steve Rogers ultimately decided to head back in time to live out his life with Peggy Carter! In a roundabout way, all of that is Scott's fault as he's the one who helped set the Avengers' time-travel plan in motion.

With that in mind, it's no great surprise that Kang the Conqueror is going to come looking for Ant-Man, and it seems likely he will want to punish the hero for the affects his actions had on the timeline.

Not only does this make Ant-Man one of the MCU's most important characters, but if his actions created Kang, he may also be one of the most dangerous. The question is, will it be here that Scott finally goes the same way as his comic book counterpart by being killed off? It seems likely.
