A lot of the incredulity over Ant-Man comes from not understanding Scott Lang's place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Factor in the opinion that €œMarvel's doing something different and it works as a stand-alone€, and Ant-Man doesn't seem so essential to the MCU €“ so why bother watching it? It seems like a self-contained thing, especially since Michael Douglas's Hank Pym had his comic book creation Ultron credited to Tony Stark in the movies. €œAnt-Man is hugely entertaining, and a truly significant puzzle piece in the Marvel Universe€, reckons Drew McSweeny from HitFix. €œThis one's got a big sweet heart.€ As big a deal has been made about this being the Marvel movie people who know nothing about Marvel movies can enjoy, it's apparently as essential going forward as the Age Of Ultron.
