Anthony Hopkins' Hitchcock Trailer Debuts

Hitchcock, the first footage of which has just been released. The film - which takes us deep into the Hollywood studio system and into Hitchcock's personal life and was previously titled Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho - deals with the director's well-documented struggle to get his most famous (and best-loved) horror flick onto the big screen. The film, directed by Sasha Gervasi, stars Scarlett Johansson as the famous blonde who took that ill-fated shower at the Bates motel, Janet Leigh, and Helen Mirren as Hitch's dedicated and plucky wife Alma. From the trailer, the movie looks to delve into the dark underbelly of Hollywood, and the even darker underbelly of Hitchcock himself. Somewhat renowned for his strange obsessions with those women he would cast and proceed to torture on-screen, Hitchcock doesn't look as though it's going to give the world's most famous director an easy ride. On the other hand, it seems to be perfectly emphasising Hitch's fondness for the macabre, and in doing so, is looking kind of brilliant. What's more interesting is that Hitchcock has fallen into production almost directly beside another Hitchcock biopic (The Girl, which stars Toby Jones as the great filmmaker), granting the world another case of weird Hollywood synchronicity that they can talk about and obsess over. Which means there's added pressure on both sides to beat the other one into submission with better critical reviews. Probably. Check out the trailer below: http://youtu.be/3rQuRLERl6A
