14. Steppenwolf

Aquaman sensibly makes precious little mention of Justice League, opting instead to focus on telling a pretty standalone story.

There is however a quick reference to that film's events when Mera first meets up with Arthur on land, reminding the audience that he defeated Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds) and helped save Atlantis.

It's honestly pretty surprising they even name-dropped Steppenwolf at all considering the hostile response the abominable CGI villain received from fans.

But at least it's a most fleeting nod in a movie that's otherwise happy to forget all that nonsense.
