5. It's Cheesy...But It Knows It

Given the general consensus among casual audiences that Aquaman's a corny goofball of a superhero, this movie's greatest weapon will be its self-awareness, and it sure looks like James Wan is embracing the movie's silliness with open arms.

The DCEU hasn't exactly had an easy time with the gritty approach, and it'd be an embarrassingly misguided style and tone for an Aquaman movie, so sensibly this feels closer to the mood of, say, a Thor movie.

The comedy on display isn't particularly witty, but the film seems totally in control of its cheeseball status. It's the only way to go, really, and no matter how the reviews turn out, few are likely to slam Aquaman for taking itself too seriously.
