Aquaman Release Date Pushed Back To December 2018
The Jason Momoa swims back a couple of months, though it's not clear why.

Warner Bros. have announced that the solo Aquaman movie, starring Jason Momoa, has been pushed back a couple of months from its original release date of October 5, 2018.
The new date for the movie is December 21, 2018, giving it a big Christmas slot, and one previously occupied by Avatar 2 (which was recently delayed again by James Cameron).
The reason for it being pushed back hasn't been revealed, but it's not like it'll free up the competition any. It'll now go head-to-head with Sony's animated Spider-Man movie (which hits the same day), and Mary Poppins Returns (December 25). There's also a chance that the Star Wars Han Solo movie could be pushed back to December, in keeping with the release pattern they've established, though they might want to keep it on May 25, which marks the anniversary of the original movie.
It's not the first delay for the Aquaman movie, which was originally slated for a July 2018 release before being pushed back to October. Filming is scheduled to begin in May this year, which should give director James Wan plenty of time to get the movie right. The DCEU is in a state of flux right now, with The Batman also facing delays. Hopefully this extra time is used to get things on track, rather than a signal of going off-the-rails.
As for that October release date, Sony Pictures have swung straight in to claim it, announcing that as the day we'll finally see the long-gestating Venom movie.
