Army Of The Dead: Every Crew Member Ranked Worst To Best
2. Dieter
Adding comedy to a zombie flick creates a broad spectrum of success, ranging from Shaun of the Dead at the top and Resident Evil Apocalypse at the bottom. The majority of the characters in this flick take it seriously as they're fighting for their lives, but, luckily, the character of Dieter comes along to pack some laughs in.
Dieter almost exists in an entirely different film, as his reactions to the zombies, constant questioning and overly eager attitude will have you giggling all the way through, despite the horrors on display. The performance here from Matthias Schweighofer does a great job of not overdoing the silly moments but letting you understand that this character is easily the goofiest.
Besides his great comedy chops, Dieter is also vital to the plot, as his safecracking skills are essential to the mission. Without him, they'd have no way of getting into the safe.
Finally, he also has a great character arc, as his friendship with Vanderohe sees him going from a cowardly newcomer to a brave hero who sacrifices himself to save his new friend, which means you get the best of both worlds with this character.
