Updated: And now there's a trailer for the show... I had plenty of emails last Thursday from people adamant that I had been the victim of an overly elaborate Entertainment Weekly prank and that my write-up regarding the animated series The Governator, that would find Arnold Schwarzenegger effectively voicing himself as a character who upon leaving political office decides to fight crime, was an April fool's day joke and that I had fallen for it. What I told the ones I could be bothered to reply too... Hollywood circa 2011 is more absurd than you could ever imagine and it feels like April Fool's Day every single day of the week when you hear what films are greenlit. Speaking at the MIPTV Cannes 2011 market today, Schwarzenegger confirmed The Governator 52-episodes, half-hour long series will screen late-2012 and also announced what I had previously warned you would follow, and that the plan is indeed to make a feature film out of the concept that would screen in 2013, which surprise surprise would be in 3D. Though thankfully the project sounds like it will simply be a straight animated extension of the t.v. show and won't be a live-action spin-off. Phew!
