In a comparatively rare case, the Russos themselves revealed the fact that Tony Stark's BARF technology, which allowed him to hijack the hippocampus "to clear traumatic memories," would be key in Avengers 4. Presumably, Stark will use am evolved form of the technology SOMEHOW to undo the Snap.
But in terms of how it happens, your guess is as good as anyone's...

This sounds like classic misdirection in the wake of the set leaks showing time travel hints and the Battle Of New York set and a means for the Russos to cover their spoilers.
It's just too hard to see how invading someone's thoughts could possibly tangibly affect the plot, unless it's used on Thanos to convince him to go back on his actions. But that seems a little... out there.
