Avengers 4 Theory: Why Ant-Man Is Key To Time Travel (And Undoing Infinity War)
Could the smallest MCU heroes have the biggest impact?
Ever since Thanos clicked his fingers at the end of Infinity War, one question more than any has reverberated around the MCU's huge fanbase: what happens next? More specifically, the issue for most fans is how his catastrophic act will be undone - because it surely has to be despite the film-makers insisting that it was real.
Curiously for some, in the meantime, we're going to get a comedy action heist movie in the shape of Ant-Man And The Wasp, which seems a strange step down from the high drama of Infinity War's last moments. That thinking is precisely why the film is going to be a challenge for Marvel to market, comparatively speaking, but the studio know how important Ant-Man And The Wasp is for the story that spans Avengers 3 and 4, and they NEED fans to see it.
That's because it looks like Ant-Man And The Wasp is not only going to be part of that story, but will in fact answer that pertinent question of how Thanos' snap might be undone. And here's why...
7. Ant-Man And The Wasp Is KEY
We've been told already that Ant-Man And The Wasp is key to the future of the MCU, and in particular to Avengers 4, and there are some pretty big hints as to key. It's all about the multiverse.
In the run-up to Infinity War's release, Evangeline Lilly spoke to Vanity Fair to very obviously foreshadow how important the Quantum Realm is to Ant-Man And The Wasp, but curiously, also to Infinity War...
"When I heard about Infinity War and the direction that they’re heading, I did have this moment of realizing, ‘Oh, wow, there’s a bit of a déjà vu for me with the Lostfranchise.’ We are hitting that [Lost] season 4 space where everything’s about to shift, and you’re about to lose the solid ground underneath you. And [Ant-Man and the Wasp], of course, will play a part in that."
"Those characters are experts in the quantum realm. In Ant-Man and the Wasp, they are trying everything in their power to safely enter the quantum realm and return back from it because they have evidence from the first film that Scott Lang was able to do that. If he can do it, why can’t we? If we do succeed in Ant-Man and the Wasp, then that does open a whole entire new multi-verse to enter into and play around in. I’m not the story creator, so I can’t tell you what they’re going to do with that. But I definitely see the potential there."
Now, put that together with what Disney CEO Bob Iger said in the same article and
"We’re looking for worlds that are completely separate from the worlds we’ve already visited. They can be separate geographically, or separate in time—not just in place but in time. So there’s almost, it’s not quite infinite, but the directions we could go are extraordinary."

New worlds. New time. The importance of the multiverse and Ant-Man And The Wasp being key to working out how to visit those new dimensions... It all sounds very much like the key to visiting the Quantum Realm freely will be unlocked in the sequel. So, why is that important to Avengers 4?
