2. How Much Time Has Passed Since Infinity War?

Scott Lang's arrival also raises another question - exactly how long has passed since the Decimation by the time he returns?

Scott mentions that he met Cap "a few years ago...at the airport in Germany", and given that Civil War took place in 2016, it's probably safe to assume Endgame takes place anywhere from 2018-2021 (5+ years doesn't really count as "a few" anymore, no matter how loose your definition).

It would make sense dramatically to create a few years of distance between the events of Infinity War and Endgame, to show the profound effect the Decimation had on both the Avengers and the world at large.

As such, we'll go with the present-day timeline being 2020 (three years removed from Infinity War, which took place in 2017).
