Avengers: Endgame - 13 Things It Actually Took From The Comics

Endgame may have been a love letter to the MCU, but it paid tribute to the comics first.

Over two weeks since its release, fans are still digesting Avengers: Endgame. The climactic fourth entry in the Avengers series brought to a close over a decade's worth of build-up and storytelling, and though the film certainly has its critics, to many, the pay-off was executed perfectly.

Of course, those arguably most affected by Endgame's resolution won't just be those who've stuck around with the MCU for the past ten or so years, but those who've been reading the comics for much longer. There were dozens of little moments lifted straight from the comics littered throughout the film, with some of the biggest pay-offs having even been taken from literal panels featured in books themselves.

The MCU has taken inspiration from a variety of different comics over the years - from Ed Brubaker's Captain America to Jonathan Hickman's Avengers and dozens more runs throughout Marvel's history - but only rarely has it ever chosen to pluck a moment straight from a comic and drop it right into the middle of a live action melee.
