Avengers: Infinity War - 12 Plot Twists No One Will See Coming
4. Cap DOESN'T Die
With all the talk of Chris Evans' contract with Marvel ending and the various flirtations in the press that suggest he's either holding out for another big pay day or genuinely intends to move on from the role after Avengers 4, it's a fairly well-held "truth" that Captain America will die.
He did so in the comics (albeit at the end of Civil War), and his death feels like the perfect way to sell just how much of a threat Thanos is. But it would also be way too easy.
Killing Cap wouldn't take any imagination, and if there's one thing we know about Marvel Studios, it's that they like to take the source material only as a guide, establishing their own story resolutions where possible. In some respects, killing Cap is too much like a conventional thing to do for it to actually happen, and having him simply retire to some sort of happiness post-Infinity War while one of his supporting characters takes up the shield might be the more likely option.
