Seeing more of Thanos and Gamora interacting before he chose to sacrifice her wouldn't have been a bad thing, but it probably wasn't all that necessary. We already got to see the bond between the characters and what it took for Thanos to sacrifice her thanks to great performances, so over-egging it when the film's running time was already very long really wasn't necessary.
At least we get to see it on the blu-ray.
