Avengers: Infinity War Fan Theory - Does Spider-Man Get The Symbiote Suit?

Is Peter Parker hiding something?

With Sony and Marvel both making different Spider-Man movies (albeit with only Marvel putting Spidey in theirs for now), you could be forgiven for imagining that there will be very limited cross-over in terms of content and characters. That means the rumours of Norman Osborn's role in Silver & Black probably mean he's not going to appear in the MCU, and that Miles Morales' reference in Spider-Man: Homecoming probably makes it difficult for him to appear in the Sonyverse.

That is, unless the studios are actually planning on working together on rights for a deal that means we could see two different versions of each iconic character. It's not like it was a problem for Fox when they established an entirely different Wolverine in Logan, so it's not entirely unprecedented that two different timelines could be shown on the big screen around the same time.

That would mean that the MCU could potentially use elements of the upcoming Sony movies after all, which is handy, as one new fan theory suggests that there's some evidence that Spider-Man actually gets his hands on the symbiote suit in Avengers: Infinity War.

In a post on Reddit, a fan has suggested that the footage seen of Infinity War at Comic Con and D23 showing Peter Parker supposedly gravely injured and apologising to Tony Stark (seemingly on a strange alien planet) hints at a possibly key moment for Spidey.

"Tony and rest of the Avengers have to keep fighting so they either leave him there or move him elsewhere. Since they're on some alien planet while he's recovering the symbiote is there and manages to find its way onto him which helps heal him faster and makes him stronger. Using his new suit the Avengers are able to get an upper hand on Thanos. Then maybe he keeps it until either the end of Infinity War or until his next solo movie so that the Venom standalone movie can happen afterwards."

It's an intriguing idea, though it's to be viewed with skepticism, naturally particularly as Sony and Marvel have been quite firm on there not being a cross-over (though the waters there have been muddied several times).

The post also points at possible "evidence" that Parker is hiding something in material we've already seen:

"In one of the Infinity War set videos we see Tom Holland wearing a zipped up jacket that's pretty obviously hiding whatever he's wearing underneath. And at the end of Homecoming we see the Iron Spider suit and the neck area is the same color as the Homecoming suit so there's no reason for Tom's jacket to be zipped up all the way unless the color of the suit itself would be a massive spoiler."

Could it possibly be?
