Awesome new Indy pics arrive!

I think it's almost a year to the day since it was officially announced that INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL was going to get made. Time sure flies. Here we are, mere months away from release, and the latest issue of Vanity Fair is already building up the hype with some pretty cool stills (as photographed by WATCHMEN walk-on Annie Leibovitz) from the film along with interviews with the key players. Here's my favourite pic - it shows Ford and Spielberg looking incredibly fit and ageless, while poor old George, with his Mr Whippy hair and immaculately trimmed beard, is looking more like Colonel Sanders by the day.

The article to accompany these photos is pretty exhaustive, and interestingly we get a first look at Cate Blanchett, who will play villainous Russian operative Agent Spalko.

It looks like this summer will be like 1989 all over again. There's a new Batman film, Indy returns, and James Bond almost made it but was delayed when director Roger Michell dropped out. With Indy getting an early start (it comes out in May), I could see this film having real legs over summer and doing extremely well. Many of the fans of the previous three movies, who were in their teens when movies 1 through 3 came out in theatres, are now going to have kids of their own. What better family day out than seeing Harrison Ford punching evil Cate Blanchett?! source - vanity fair
