15. Best Original Music

Prediction: La La Land (Justin Hurwitz)

It's a beloved musical, so there's not much reason to expect a surprise upset here. Justin Hurwitz has been performing well on the awards circuit so this one feels pretty much sewn up for both BAFTA and Oscar.

Should It Win?: Jóhann Jóhannsson's sublime work on Arrival deserves more recognition, but it's also hard to hold a win against Hurwitz: it's extremely showy, catchy work, and is the lynchpin around which the movie ultimately rests.

The rest of the group (Lion, Jackie, Nocturnal Animals) don't really put up much of a fight at all.
