BAFTAs 2020: 10 Ups & 5 Downs

The BAFTAs are traditionally one of the last stops on the road to the Oscars, and with this year's especially short awards season calendar, the distinctive masked gongs were given out a mere week before it all comes to an end with the Academy Awards themselves.

While the 2020 BAFTAs ceremony wasn't a show for the ages, it certainly got enough right to keep most viewers happy. Most.

The winners were often too predictable for the show to feel like anything more than a pre-Oscars inevitability, but there were some great speeches, some hilarious moments, and even one or two pleasant surprises.

While BAFTA's tedious Brit bias was in effect once again and the show format still leaves a lot to be desired, most of the wins were at least deserved, even if a more diverse and left-field batch of winners would've helped the show stand apart from all the others in the crowded awards landscape.
