Batman's New Justice League Costume Unveiled (Yep, It Sucks)

It's the shades isn't it? Chicks dig the shades.

Because Warner Bros love a Bat-reveal, we've now seen what Batman will look like in Justice League, and it's not great. Bat-fans, meet the new Tactical Batsuit.

There's a similar sort of angular riot police aesthetic as Christopher Nolan's design for The Dark Knight (including great big square boobs), and a similarly large general feel to Batman v Superman. That probably has more to do with the fact that Ben Affleck is an absolute monster.

From crotch to chest is fine: it looks heavy duty, it looks suited to combat and defence and it looks like the kind of thing a superhero in Snyder's constantly exploding world would wear. It's just from there up that things go a bit haywire.

The new obese Bat-logo comes with new long ears, suggesting that the bat it's based on is in fact the European brown or grey long-eared bat. That one's for all the bat nerds out there: consider it a gift.

Warner Bros.

Is this designed to suggest that the new suit comes with better surveillance technology? Can he literally hear his enemies better? Never mess with the logo, Bats, that's like the FIRST rule of marketing.

And then there's the face-mask. Or Nite Owl from Watchmen's head as it should more pertinently be called.

Warner Bros.

Notice the same slick back "ears", the same ridiculous goggles, the same anxiety lines on the forehead. Zack Snyder is literally remaking his own riff on the Justice League for The Justice League and nobody is stopping him. Why would Batman even wear shades in this world? It's literally the darkest comic book movie universe ever (and I don't mean in terms of gravitas, I mean in terms of a genuine lack of lightbulbs). It's impractical.

And nobody is even mentioning the fact that he's now got pronounced Bat Nostrils. Is that all the better to smell you with, my dear? This is a bigger atrocity than BatNipplesGate.

So yeah, not really a fan.

Also as Mark Hughes at Forbes so astutely points out, this also looks suspiciously like the same set as Deathstroke appeared to be on in his reveal video. Does that confirm Deathstroke will initially appear in Justice League? Have they literally spoiled their own stinger?

Don't put it past them.
