54. Babs Makes Her Comeback - Oracle: Year One
Although Barbara Gordon didn't make her post-Killing Joke comeback within the pages of Batman (readers would have to follow Suicide Squad to witness the pleasure of seeing it first hand), come the late nineties and she was once again an integral part of Batman's supporting cast.
Oracle: Year One aimed to bridge the gap between TKJ and Babs' return to the superhero community, and its' one well worth reading.

53. Batman Faces The Ripper - Gotham By Gaslight
Before Hellboy entered the scene in 1993, writer and artist Mike Mignola was busy at work over at DC Comics. He did the covers for A Death in the Family, and pencilled the entirety of Jim Starlin's Cosmic Odyssey, where he got to handle an all-time great Batman moment where the character punched a New God square in the jaw.
However - and this is even when taking into account the brilliant Batman/Hellboy crossover comic too - Mignola's best Batman moment has to be Gotham by Gaslight.
Mignola and Brian Augustyn's Elseworlds tale brings Batman to the nineteenth century in the wake of the Whitechapel Murders. Jack the Ripper, the infamous figure responsible for the killings, has seemingly relocated to Gotham, and it's up to Batman to track him down. It's a great story, and one of the most successful reimaginings the character has seen.
