The Concern: Though Batmans no killing policy is well-known at this point, his feelings on the issue are really much broader. Batman has a severe disdain of all firearms ever since his parents were killed with one. So seeing him armed with such a weapon doesnt feel like it belongs. The speaks to a larger fear surrounding the movie about the characterization of Batman. This fear is based on nothing more than not wanting to see a beloved character adapted improperly, and seeing him carrying a gun like this isnt helping. Why Theres Still Hope: Its worth remembering that Batman has wielded a variety of guns before, in both the comics and The Dark Knight Rises. So its not as if this is completely out of character, its just an aspect of his hardware that isnt often seen. And even if he is wielding some sort of gun, that hardly confirms that this wont still be a faithful adaptation of the character. One piece of equipment hardly speaks to an entire personality.
