In The Dark Knight, Lucius Fox quipped that three buttons is a little nineties when Bruce Wayne expressed his need for a new suit. Well, black and a grey is a little thirties, and Batmans going for an old-school look next time out. As Will Arnetts Caped Crusader reminded the world in The Lego Movie, Batman only work in black, and sometimes very, very dark grey. Since Tim Burtons 1989 film, black has been his primary palette (Batman & Robin is best forgotten, as anyone who saw it will gladly testify), but the images that have emerged indicate that the new suit is more in keeping with the classic comic book look than anything yet seen. Superheroes almost never return in the same outfit - even Supermans get-up has been tweaked slightly this time around - so the black/grey combo isnt exactly news. Nevertheless, the lucky few in attendance at Comic Con last July were the first to learn that Ben Affleck will be levelling the playing field by donning battle armour in Dawn Of Justice. The only footage available thus far is a shaky phone camera version of the Comic Con teaser, so Batmans new suit is definitely one of the most anticipated elements of the new film and a trailer must.
