Baywatch Review: 2 Ups & 8 Downs

1. It's Way, Way Too Long

Arguably the movie's biggest issue is its excessive length, clocking in at a thoroughly unreasonable 116 minutes, which is surely at least 20 minutes longer than it needed to be.

Bloated out with leaden crime caper subplots and countless scenes that service neither the laughs nor the characters, it's surprising director Seth Gordon wasn't forced to make more cuts in post-production, and this might be a rare case where some added studio intervention might've resulted in a more enjoyable end product.

Considering that several scenes from the trailers don't even appear in the final film (such as Johnson and Efron riding a moped together), it's clear that Baywatch was thoroughly over-written from the outset.

Bad though it is, Baywatch isn't without a redeeming feature or two, though...
