20 Best Horror Movie Final Girls of the 2020s (So Far)

3. Cecilia Kass - The Invisible Man

Even if 2020's reimagining of The Invisible Man turned out mostly uninspired, Elisabeth Moss would've given a firecracker performance as embattled heroine Cecilia Kass.

But thankfully under writer-director Leigh Whannell, there's far more to this expertly crafted sci-fi horror film one that one could've reasonably gleaned from the marketing.

Our rarely-seen villain, Adrian Griffin (Oliver Jackson-Cohen), uses his invisibility suit to physically and emotionally torment Cecilia, effectively gaslighting her all while those around her quite understandably believe her to be losing her mind.

We as the audience know better of course, and so Cecilia becomes incredibly easy to root for as her situation becomes ever-more desperately dire.

Ultimately Cecilia turns the tables on Adrian by killing him with one of his own invisibility suits, at once defeating the film's slasher villain and freeing herself from a relationship defined by abuse and trauma.

It's enormously satisfying to watch, aided by an utterly all-in performance from the ever-great Moss.
