20 Awesome Horror Movies NOBODY Talks About
7. Honeymoon
Honeymoon is the 2014 feature debut of future Fear Street filmmaker Leigh Janiak, and stars Rose Leslie and Harry Treadaway as a recently married couple whose honeymoon getaway is disrupted by an increasingly odd series of events.
Considering how well-trod the "cabin in the woods" movie has been for literally decades at this point, Janiak deserves huge credit for doing something fresh and interesting with it.
She holds us at a distance from the central mystery for a good while, instead investing us in the ominous atmosphere and claustrophobic, isolated setting.
Leslie is absolutely fantastic in the lead role, and at just 87 minutes in length Janiak doesn't waste a minute of your time, even as the compelling central mystery is unfurled with agonising deliberation.
Anyone can see from this film that Janiak was destined for bigger and better things afterwards, and with her terrific Fear Street trilogy she's sure delivered on that promise.
