20 Totally INSANE Moments From Recent Horror Movies

16. Grandma's Death - Lee Cronin's The Mummy

Lee Cronin's The Mummy may have a whole ton of issues, but it is at least jam-packed with insane, Evil Dead-worthy moments, with a good deal of the film's runtime devoted to absolutely torturing the central family's poor grandmother character, Carmen (Verónica Falcón).

When the partially mummified Katie (Natalie Grace) is finally returned to her family, the ancient demon she's possessed by takes a particular dislike to grandma, headbutting her, choking her, and then finally throwing her out of a window.

And because that's not bad enough, a mortally injured Carmen is then devoured by wolves while still alive.

And refusing to even let her rest in peace, Katie then ensures that Carmen's funeral is an absolute farce, desecrating her corpse.

There's a lot of off-the-wall stuff in this movie, but the almost comically brutal treatment of granny feels pulled straight out of the Sam Raimi playbook.
