2. The O.G. Cast Kills The Young Cast - Scary Movie

The new entry into the Scary Movie franchise was a mostly awful follow-up that clung to the lowest of low-hanging comedic fruit while offering up only a few honest-to-God laughs.

It did at least save the very best gag for last, by passing savage comment on the tendency for legacy sequels to pass the torch from the O.G. characters to a younger tribe of heroes.

And for most of its runtime, Scary Movie absolutely seems to be leaning that way too, with the introduction of Cindy's (Anna Faris) daughters Sara (Olivia Rose Keegan) and Tuesday (Savannah Lee Nassif).

But in the final scene, just as Sara and Tuesday suggest they're going to take over the franchise from the olds, a firmly insulted Cindy, Brenda (Regina Hall), Shorty (Marlon Wayans), and Ray (Shawn Wayans) decide they've had enough.

And so, they tie the sisters up, pour gasoline on them and drop a match, leaving them to burn to death while declaring that the franchise still belongs to the original cast.

For as woefully lazy as the new Scary Movie was, this was a hilariously blunt way to clap back at the overwhelming cynicism of modern franchise cinema.
