It Follows is one of the most iconic horror films of the 2010s, but many simply assumed it'd never get any sort of sequel.

Yet that all changed in 2023, when it was confirmed that filmmaker David Robert Mitchell was set to return with They Follow, and original lead Maika Monroe would be reprising her role as protagonist Jay.

Though shooting was originally set to begin in 2025, it ended up being pushed per Mitchell and Monroe's busy schedules, though as of the most recent update it's expected to start filming later this summer.

Monroe has teased that the script will take fans to places they won't expect, and it was recently confirmed that Naomi Ackie was in talks to co-star, in a film said to be set a decade after the original.

And yes, Mitchell recently confirmed that original composer Disasterpeace will be returning to provide the score once again.

Considering the first film's irresistible premise and the enormous potential of a grander-scale follow-up, hopefully Mitchell has spent the decade-plus assembling a quintessential horror sequel that's not only bigger but perhaps also better.
