13. Paranormal Activity 8

Though the mainline Paranormal Activity franchise sputtered to a terrible conclusion with 2015's Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, it was 2021's widely panned standalone sequel Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin that seemingly hammered the final nail in the series' coffin.

But of course, the found footage brand is just too valuable to be left alone forever, and so late last year it was confirmed that Paranormal Activity 8 was in the works, with Jason Blum, James Wan, and franchise creator Oren Peli onboard as producers.

None of this is terribly exciting in of itself, but then came the news that Ian Tuason - who recently made his feature debut with the terrific low-budget horror Undertone - will direct.

Tuason's debut proved the low-fi scares he could produce with a minimal budget, and so it's easy to see how he could bring a fresh vision to the world of Paranormal Activity - which, let's be honest, desperately needs a shake-up.
