The Rumour: After being cryogenically frozen at the end of Captain America: Civil War, Bucky (Sebastian Stan) will be thawed out and ultimately have a major role in Black Panther's narrative.

The Truth: Bucky spends the entirety of the main movie still in deep freeze, actually, and though many suspected that the core narrative might revolve around a war over custody of Barnes, that isn't the case at all.
Bucky does show up in the film's post-credits scene, however, having been seemingly cured of his brainwashing by T'Challa's (Chadwick Boseman) sister Shuri (Letitia Wright), providing a neat and tidy lead-in for him appearing in Avengers: Infinity War.
